Deep fryer sets fire to shed near Wallaceburg home

A propane-fired deep fryer set off a fire at a large shed next to a house in Wallaceburg.

The Chatham-Kent fire department found heavy smoke when it arrived to the scene.

It happened Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters from Wallaceburg and Chatham quickly extinguished the flames before they spread to the house.

Fire officials remind people such cooking appliances are only to be used outside, away from flammable materials.

Damage is estimated at $30,000.
