“A coup d’etat is a serious thing. As President Temer said a while ago, all armed forces must be involved, otherwise the coup does not exist. No one is going to stage a coup with a retired general and six officers.”

On Thursday (November 21), Federal Police formally accused Bolsonaro and 36 others of the crimes of attempted coup d'état, violent abolition of the democratic state of law and participation in a criminal organization.

Bolsonaro plotted to overturn his 2022 election defeat, along with dozens of ex-ministers and senior aides, including active duty military officers, in a conspiracy that included plans for assassinations, the police said.

Bolsonaro criticized the investigation, saying the process against him was under constant manipulations behind closed doors.
