Demi Lovato celebrates her new engagement: 'Here's to the rest of our lives'

The singer and her "Substance" co-writer Jordan Lutes went public with their romance in August 2022.

Cue the wedding bells: Demi Lovato and musician Jordan “Jutes” Lutes are officially engaged.

The Grammy-nominated pop star announced the news in a Sunday Instagram post, sharing a sweet photo with her fiancé and a close-up of her ring.

“I’m still speechless,” Lovato, who uses she/her and they/them pronouns, captioned the carousel. “Last night was the best night of my life, and I can’t believe I get to marry the love of my life.”

Tagging Lutes in the post, Lovato added, “My love, I’m beyond excited to marry you... every day I’ve spent with you has been a dream come true, and I can’t wait to love and cherish you forever. Here’s to the rest of our lives. I love you, baby.”

Lutes shared the same photos on his own social media page, writing, “Yesterday I asked my best friend to marry me and she said yes. I can’t imagine my life without you, and thank god now I’ll never have to. Feeling like the luckiest man alive right now. I’m so in love with you.”

PEOPLE was the first to break the news that the couple got engaged on Saturday after a “personal and intimate proposal.”

Lovato and Jutes first crossed paths while working on music for her 2022 album, Holy Fvck. The Canadian indie rocker co-wrote several tracks on it, including "Substance," "Happy Ending," and "City of Angels." In August 2022, an insider confirmed that the singer was in a "happy and healthy" new relationship.

Lovato recalled their first meeting on a September episode of the LadyGang podcast, saying, “He came into the session and I literally was like, ‘Who is this guy?’ I texted my friends and was like, ‘Oh my God, the hottest guy just walked In. I am so nervous. I don’t know what to do with myself.’”

Lovato explained that from there, it took “a couple months” for them to become romantically involved.

“He was just so focused on the music,” they explained. “So we were friends for a while and then told each other how we felt.”

Since then, the couple have not been shy about sharing their affection for one another on social media. Earlier this year, Jutes wished Lovato a happy birthday with an Instagram post that read: “I didn’t know the perfect person existed until I met u. But now that I do, i’m gunna spend the rest of my life protecting u and doing whatever I can to squeeze another smile n belly laugh outta u.”
