Demolition of one former Fairview Heights restaurant begins to make room for another
Demolition began Monday morning on the old Steak ‘n Shake in Fairview Heights to make way for a new Starbucks location.
Land Use & Development Director Dallas Alley recently shared an email with the BND from the demolition contractor stating that they anticipate the entire building will be “down and removed within a day or two and site pavement demolition happening over the following couple days.”
If all goes as planned, the site will be ready for construction operations by the end of the week, stated the email.
Alley said in a brief phone call that Monday’s demolition is off to a good start so far, despite the morning’s icy conditions.
The BND reported in December that a Starbucks will be built at 10860 Lincoln Trail in place of the Steak ‘n Shake, which has been closed since January 2019.
