Disney+ orders second season of 'Goosebumps' young-adult horror series
Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Disney+ has announced it ordered a second season of its young-adult horror anthology series, Goosebumps.
"Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series' chills, thrills, heart and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television's most-watched shows of last year," Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television, said in a press release on Saturday.
"We can't wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L. Stine, and to collaborate once again with Sony Pictures Television, Scholastic Entertainment, and our fantastic creative team to bring an entirely new mystery to Disney+ for Season 2."
No casting for the eight-episode, second season has been announced.
Also not yet revealed are which of Stine's best-selling novels inspired the season.
"Teenage siblings discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery," a synopsis said. "As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the story of five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994."
Season 1 premiered last year and followed a group of five high school students from different friend groups who reluctantly team up to investigate the mysterious death three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle.
The adventure pit them against various mystical creatures and forces them to face some unexpected truths about the adults in their lives.
The Season 1 cast included Justin Long, Rachael Harris, Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig and Will Price.
