Doctor Who adds Am I Being Unreasonable star to new series

Doctor Who has revealed its newest cast member for the upcoming series is Lenny Rush. The Am I Being Unreasonable star has been announced to join the series led by Sex Education's Ncuti Gatwa.

Rush will play a character named Morris opposite Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor as well as Coronation Street's Millie Gibson as companion Ruby Sunday.

"It's an absolute honour to be part of Doctor Who, one of the most iconic shows on television and wow, what a dream come true!" Rush said in a statement.

Meanwhile, returning showrunner Russell T Davies welcomed Rush to the Tardis team, teasing the Doctor's "greatest nightmare".

"This is what Doctor Who's all about, brand new talent from the next generation, and no one's more talented than Lenny!" Davies said in a statement. "He joins the Tardis team just in time for the Doctor's greatest nightmare, so hold on tight!"

Helmed by Davies, the fourteenth seires of Doctor Who boasts a huge ensemble as more and more stars are officially becoming a part of the beloved sci-fi phenomenon.

Alongside Gatwa, Gibson and Rush, the new instalment of the popular BBC series also features EastEnders' Anita Dobson and It's a Sin's Michelle Greenidge. RuPaul's Drag Race two-time winner Jinkx Monsoon, Frozen's Jonatahn Groff, Dunkirk's Aneurin Barnard and Game of Thrones' Indira Varma are also set to star as prominent characters.

Jemma Redgrave, who first appeared as Kate Stewart in 2012's 'The Power of Three', will reprise the role in the upcoming season in a recurring capacity, while Bonnie Langford will return as Mel Bush.

Doctor Who returns later in 2023 on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ elsewhere. Meanwhile, in the US, the show airs on BBC America, with series 1-12 available on Max. Classic Doctor Who streams on Britbox in the UK.
