A dog who did what dogs do and ate whatever was in front of him ended up having his glue jawed shut for a staggering FIVE hours.

Jack Russell Alfie saw a Domino’s Pizza leaflet on the floor after it was dropped through the later box and took a big bite out of it.

However, the glossy paper mixed with his salvia formed a cement-like substance in his mouth, glueing it shit.

The ten-year-old pooch was rushed to the vets by his owner Louise Glover, 17, when he started having a seizure and foaming at the mouth.

Having been fed through a tube while his mouth was pried shut, Alfie eventually managed to open up when he got starving hungry.

Louise, from Hemel Hempstead, Herts, said: “We were all really shocked. We get menus and other leaflets through the letterbox all the time so I’m not sure why it’s only happened now.

"We’ve taught Alfie to go and fetch the post but he does sometimes like to chew the odd letter.

"When he didn’t come back upstairs that morning, I went down to find him and he was frothing from his mouth and shaking.

"It was like he was having a mini seizure. He’s quite old now so I was really worried and it was scary to watch, especially as I was in the house on my own.”

Louise said she was installing an outside letterbox to stop the same thing from happening again.

She added: "It’s so scary to think that a leaflet could do this much damage. If all leaflets are printed on the same sort of paper, this has probably happened to a lot of dogs before.”

Abbey Everett, spokesperson for Domino’s Pizza Group, said: “We’re very sorry to hear about the incident.

“We are investigating the circumstances with our supplier and wish Alfie a speedy recovery.”
