As a trend tester and beauty writer, I consider the Grammys to be not only music's biggest night but one of makeup's biggest nights, too. Each year, the awards show acts as a defining moment for spring beauty trends—and this year's celebrity makeup looks were no exception. One beauty product in particular emerged as a favorite among celebrity makeup artists on the red carpet: the new Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Blush Wand, seen at this year's ceremony on Lizzo, Doja Cat, and Kacey Musgraves.
Charlotte Tilbury's latest makeup launch is inspired in part by the brand's coveted Beauty Light Wand. The blush version features the same practical tube and failproof cushion applicator, making it easy to use as much (or as little) of the product as you like. For a little makeup inspiration, here are the exact shades of the soon-to-be cult-favorite blush each artist wore to the 2023 Grammy Awards.
Makeup artist Alexx Mayo created a signature look by applying the liquid blush to the high points of Lizzo's cheeks, and blending it toward the eyes for a soft, yet vibrant finish. "Flushed, diffused cherry cheeks! A fresh approach to this spring color story," he tells BAZAAR.com. "Bold, daring and ready for anything.”
After setting the internet ablaze with her inventive beauty looks at Paris Couture Week, Doja Cat fanned the flames with a metallic, futuristic look at the Grammys. "I was inspired by the industrial warm tones of Doja’s dress and decided to play the eyes up with shimmering, contrasting colors," celebrity makeup artist Ernesto Casillas says in a statement.
To give the star an even more luminous complexion, Casillas used the Peach Pop shade of the wand on Doja's cheeks. The lightweight, long-wear formula contains light-reflecting pigments to subtly brighten and give cheeks a natural-looking flush.
Singer Kacey Musgraves stayed true to a Barbiecore aesthetic this year with an all-pink outfit and monochromatic makeup look, courtesy of artist Moani Lee. To create her ethereal pink flush, Lee used Charlotte Tilbury's Pink Pop Blush Wand. "We wanted her skin to glow from within and her eyes to have a baby-soft pink whisper of color," Lee says.
Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk Matte Beauty Blush is available for $42 in four buildable shades. Now that it's made its official red carpet debut, we suggest moving quickly to snap up your shades of choice, as the new essential is all but guaranteed to sell out.
