Dolphins to play defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs in Germany

The Dolphins will play the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Germany this upcoming season, the NFL announced Wednesday. The Week 9 matchup will take place on Nov. 5.

Ahead of the league’s schedule release day on Thursday night, the NFL revealed its five international matchups. The Chiefs were previously announced to be playing a home game in Germany and will now face the Dolphins in Frankfurt. Kickoff at Frankfurt Stadium is scheduled for 9:30 Eastern time and the game will be broadcast on NFL Network.

It will mark the Dolphins’ first-ever regular-season game in Germany. The team played a preseason game against the Denver Broncos in Berlin in 1992, winning 31-27. Miami last played overseas in the 2021 season, facing the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the United Kingdom, a 23-20 loss. The meeting will also be wide receiver Tyreek Hill’s first against Kansas City since the 2022 trade to Miami. Hill spent the first six years of his career with the Chiefs and won a Super Bowl.

The Dolphins’ game against the Chiefs will be the NFL’s second-regular season game in Germany, following last year’s meeting between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks. Before the matchup, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last November said the league had plans to play at least four more games in Germany through 2025.

Miami lasted played Kansas City during the 2020 season, a 33-27 loss at Hard Rock Stadium.
