Dolphins sign Daviyon Nixon, adding second defensive tackle this week

The Dolphins signed defensive tackle Daviyon Nixon, the team announced Thursday, the second player at the position Miami has added this week.

Nixon, who turns 26 in December, entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick of the Panthers in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played in 14 NFL games during two seasons in Carolina, recording 15 tackles and a half sack. He also spent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022. Nixon was not on a roster in the 2023 season.

Nixon played college football at Iowa, where he was a consensus first-team All-American and the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2020. He joins defensive tackle Isaiah Mack, whom the Dolphins signed Tuesday.

Defensive tackles Christian Wilkins and Raekwon Davis will become free agents at the start of the new league year at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
