Donna Kelce on Why She Plans to ‘Take a Step Back’ This Super Bowl Week Compared to Last Year (Exclusive)
Kelce says she plans to "enjoy some of the fun of Vegas," the host city of Super Bowl 2024, ahead of cheering on son Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs
For many, going to the Super Bowl is a once-in-a-lifetime experience... but not for Donna Kelce!
The football mom is headed to the NFL Championship Game for the second year in a row (and her sixth overall!) to cheer on her son Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs team on Feb. 11 in Las Vegas.
However, in comparison to last year's Super Bowl — when the Chiefs went head-to-head against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team of Donna's eldest son Jason — the NFL mother of two is taking a different approach to the sports scene this time around.
"This year I'm going to take a step back to enjoy it," Donna tells PEOPLE exclusively ahead of Super Bowl Week 2024. "I get to enjoy it this time."

In case you forgot, the spotlight was placed on Donna long before Taylor Swift (who's dating Travis) was involved. The amplified attention on her first began around the 2023 Super Bowl, with particular interest in whether she'd be rooting for Travis of the Chiefs or Jason of the Eagles.
Donna famously wore a custom split jersey with both her sons' teams and showed it off at Super Bowl Opening Night the Monday before the big game. "Last year, I needed to be with the media event," she recalls of her schedule.
As for whether Donna is going to attend Opening Night at Allegiant Stadium to kickoff the festivities ahead of this year's Super Bowl? "I don't think I'm going to," she shares. Instead, Donna says she'll "fly in maybe on a Thursday."

Rather than overwhelming herself with another hectic schedule (for what's imaginably an already stressful week for a mother who's son is playing in the biggest football game of the year), Donna says her plan is to "just enjoy some of the fun of Vegas."
Specifically, she says she'd like to enjoy "some of the shows, some of the different plays and music" that Las Vegas has to offer. But her laid-back approach to the championship week doesn't mean Donna's mindset isn't swirling with excitement.
"It's very surreal and it has been over the past year... it's just exhilarating!" she tells PEOPLE just days after the Chiefs clinched the AFC Championship title against the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 28 to secure their spot in the Super Bowl.
"This just doesn't happen," Donna says of the Chiefs consecutive year playing in the Big Game. "It's almost like you can't even imagine... there's a lot of players that never ever get to the Super Bowl and to be able to get there twice in a row is almost unheard of," she adds. "It's just amazing."

Donna recalled the first thing she told Travis on the field after his team's victory over the Ravens. "I just looked at him and I said, "You were possessed," she tells PEOPLE.
"It was just the most amazing feats I've ever seen him accomplish. He was on a mission and he was on a mission to make sure that they won this game," she says, while also shouting out all of Travis' teammates and their hard work.
"You don't realize when they're younger exactly what your sons are going to be able to accomplish," Donna says of Travis and Jason. "And they've accomplished much more than I could have ever dreamed."
