Doors Open Toronto gets off to shaky start with map glitch

Torontonians have the chance to visit more than a hundred unique, historical and otherwise interesting buildings across the city today and Sunday for the 17th Doors Open event.

But for many, it was tough to find out which of the 130 buildings around the city made the list — the website's interactive mapwas down for hours since last night.

The map was fixed at around 9:30 a.m.

The city said the problems were due to the popularity of the event. Visitors can also pick up a physical guide at any of the 130 participating buildings, including Toronto City Hall.

Despite the technical problems, Doors Open TO cheerfully tweeted a link to the broken map at around 8 a.m.

Dozens of people vented their frustration on the event's Facebook page, with some adding that it will inevitably affect attendance.

Rudy Limeback says he checked and the site wasn't working in the early evening Friday. He said he's planning on starting at the Leslie Barns since he read earlier that it was one one of the spots open for the event.

"They could at least put up a static list of all the buildings," Limeback said. "I'm just going to wing it — I'm heading out the door with blind luck."
