“It was intimate, it was fairy tale-ish, it was very sweet,” Barrymore said. “It was, you know — there was no press. It was the way she wanted to do it.”
Barrymore also revealed the one particular part of Spears’s wedding that she was grateful for.
“I also thanked her for not having a sit-down dinner,” Barrymore said. “God, do I hate sit-down dinners!” “What are you talking about?” asked. “Guess what, we all got dressed up,” Barrymore replied. “We all want to dance, and we want to hang out.”
Barrymore then went on a mini rant explaining why exactly she hates the sit-down dinner that traditionally follows a wedding.
“They always separate you, like, ‘We’re gonna force you into a new social endeavor.’ The person you came with that you want to hang out with is over there. Why did you do that?!” Barrymore said. “And now let’s eat some bizarre food that you didn’t choose. And…and…and I hate it!”
DREW BARRYMORE: It was intimate, it was fairy tale-ish, it was very sweet. There was no press. It was the way she wanted to do it.
KYLIE MAR: Drew Barrymore stopped by "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" Monday, where she spoke about attending Britney Spears's wedding in June. It was a small but star-studded event, and there was one thing in particular that Barrymore was grateful for.
DREW BARRYMORE: I also thanked her for not having a sit-down dinner. God, do I hate sit down dinner.
JIMMY FALLON: [LAUGHING] What are you talking about?
DREW BARRYMORE: Guess what? We all got dressed up. We all want to dance, and we want to hang out.
[CLAPPING AND CHEERING]
JIMMY FALLON: No, you sit down, you eat. No, no.
DREW BARRYMORE: What?
KYLIE MAR: Barrymore went on to explain why she hates sit down dinners at wedding receptions.
DREW BARRYMORE: And they always separate you, like, we're going to force you into a new social endeavor.
JIMMY FALLON: [LAUGHING]
DREW BARRYMORE: The person you came with, that you want to hang out with--
JIMMY FALLON: Far away.
DREW BARRYMORE: --is over there.
Why did you do that? And now let's eat some bizarre food.
JIMMY FALLON: Yeah, and it's never--
DREW BARRYMORE: That you didn't choose, and I hate it.
KYLIE MAR: And Barrymore said that Spears got right down to business and the dance party.
DREW BARRYMORE: They did the ceremony, she got right to the dance party, we had the best time. And I like, thank you.
JIMMY FALLON: Yeah, Britney, we love you!
