Driver arrested after evading police, colliding with vehicle after entering drive-thru the wrong way
What started as a traffic stop on EC Row Expressway, led to a vehicle collision in a drive-thru and ended with two people arrested after a loaded hand gun was found inside a vehicle.
Police clocked a black vehicle traveling at 126 km/hr on EC Row in a 100 km/hr zone on Friday around 2 p.m.
The driver took the Huron Church Road exit and did not stop when police attempted to pull the driver over. Officers did not chase the driver for public safety reasons.
Officers later found the vehicle in a parking lot on Huron Church Road and Totten Street.
Police said the black vehicle collided with another vehicle after going the wrong way in a drive-thru. Someone pointed the responding officers toward a minivan fleeing the scene, and said the driver of the black vehicle was inside.
Police were able to stop the minivan and arrest the driver of that vehicle. A suspect in the passenger seat attempted to flee the scene. Police said he was the driver of the black vehicle that sped away from police on EC Row and crashed into the vehicle at the drive-thru.
The man was placed under arrest.
Police found a loaded handgun on the floor of the black vehicle after a search.
An 18-year-old man from the Greater Toronto Area has been charged with dangerous driving, failure to stop at an accident, possession of a firearm without a license, and careless storage of a firearm.
A 43-year-old man from Windsor is charged with accessory after the fact for dangerous driving and accessory after the fact for failure to stop at an accident.
