Dublin Airport 'receives more than 12,000 noise complaints in a year from a single person'
One person made more than 12,000 complaints about noise from aeroplanes at Dublin Airport last year, it has been reported.
The single complainant, believed to live near the airport, lodged 12,273 complaints about aircraft noise in 2021, according to the Irish Independent.
It meant the one person was behind nine out of 10 of all aircraft noise complaints, lodging the complaints at an average rate of 34 per day last year.
The same individual filed 6,227 complaints in 2020, the Irish Independent said.
The complainant is believed to live in Ongar, north-west Dublin, it reported.
The DAA, previously the Dublin Airport Authority, publishes monthly noise complaints on its website.
Before 2019, the DAA was receiving about 1,500 noise complaints about the airport a year.
In 2021, this increased to 13,569, largely because of the single complainant.

There would have been just under 1,300 complaints had theirs been excluded from last year's figures.
The number of people who lodged complaints about aircraft noise at Dublin Airport in 2021 was 191, up from 128 people in 2020.
The DAA said 97% of commercial flights using Dublin Airport last year followed designated flight paths on approach and take-off.
Most of the complaints were about plane noise at night time.
A terminal that monitors departing flights from the main runway found there were 160 incidents in the first half of 2021 when planes reached 80 decibels.
Last April, the DAA introduced an online system called Webtrak to give the public details on flight paths and noise levels from aircraft using the airport.
The system also allows people to submit noise complaints.
The DAA would not comment on individual cases, but a spokesman told Yahoo News UK: "Dublin Airport is committed to working with the communities around the airport. This includes reducing aircraft noise on neighbouring communities, which is the joint responsibility of Dublin Airport, the Irish Aviation Authority and the airlines that use the airport.
"There are a number of noise abatement measures in place and Dublin Airport is committed to working with the industry and other stakeholders to minimise the impact of noise on our neighbours and adjoining communities. DAA responds to each individual complainant regarding their complaint."
