The Duchess of Cambridge shows off her sporting prowess in London
The Duchess of Cambridge is known for her natural athletic ability, often keenly taking part in sporting activities during various royal engagements and tours. Today (26 February) the royal attended a SportsAid event at London Stadium where she tried out a variety of different sports - including running and taekwondo.
Kate looked in her element as she joined other SportsAid athletes and ambassadors including Jessica Ennis Hill. The duchess, who is a patron of the SportsAid charity, was in attendance to celebrate the vital role that parents and guardians play in the sporting success of their children.
The 38-year-old was casually dressed for the occasion, in Zara culottes, a green ribbed jumper and Marks & Spencer trainers.
She tried her hand on the running track against Ennis-Hill, before learning some taekwondo moves and seeing a pole-vaulting demonstration.
As part of her visit, the duchess listened to a panel involving young athletes and their parents and guardians, and also gave a speech in which she praised the charity for the work that they do in helping children achieve their sporting dreams.
"It’s been fascinating to speak to so many of you here today and also to hear, just now, about some of the experiences you all have, as young athletes and as parents," she said, reports the Mail Online.
"SportsAid are a shining example of how organisations can reach out and listen to families, and provide the best support possible to enable their children to flourish.
"The crucial role that parents and caregivers play in our children’s lives cannot be underestimated."
