EastEnders airs update on missing villain

EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has aired an update on serial killer Gray Atkins in the latest episode.

The disgraced former lawyer is currently locked behind bars after pleading guilty to committing multiple murders in Walford, including that of his own wife Chantelle Atkins.

This unexpected update wasn't a pleasant one, as Mitch Baker revealed in Tuesday's (June 13) episode that he'd received communication from the prison where Gray is being held.

"He says he wants to see the kids," Mitch revealed to Bernie Taylor and Chelsea Fox.

As Chelsea and Bernie both sighed in frustration, Mitch ruled out taking Mack and Mia, while Chelsea insisted baby Jordan wouldn't be making any prison visits either.

"The psychopath is having nothing to do with my son," Chelsea told Mitch.

There's good reason for the Baker-Taylors and Chelsea to keep their children away from Gray, as the murderer is behind bars for physically and psychologically abusing and murdering his wife Chantelle. In any effort to cover up that murder, he then subsequently killed Tina Carter and Kush Kazemi to prevent his murderous secret from being exposed. He was finally caught by police, thanks to Chelsea and Whitney Dean's bravery.

At the time of Gray's arrest and exit, actor Toby-Alexander Smith said that it was only right for his character to face justice for his brutal crimes.

"I think all of the audience have obviously wanted justice for Chantelle, Tina and Kush for so long and it was important that we showed that justice and that comeuppance," he told Digital Spy.

"There was no room for him to have an easy way out and it would have been wrong if they'd have done that. I do think, from the audience's perspective, it's a satisfying ending to the storyline."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
