EastEnders airs temporary exit for regular character in latest episode

EastEnders spoilers follow from Tuesday's episode, which is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer. This article contains storyline details that some viewers may prefer to avoid, as this episode hasn't yet aired on TV.

EastEnders' Sharon Watts made a temporary departure from the show in the latest episode.

Tuesday's visit to Walford, which is available to watch on BBC iPlayer, saw Sharon decide to leave for Australia amid the ongoing drama with The Six.

Sharon has been left devastated over the death of her fiancé Keanu on Christmas Day, but was forced to comply with the cover-up regardless.

Viewers know that Linda killed Keanu in self-defence when he was trying to strangle Sharon in a shocking showdown.

The Six — aka Linda, Sharon, Denise, Stacey, Kathy and Suki — all subsequently agreed to cover up Keanu's death and moved his body under the floorboards of Kathy's Café, where it has remained ever since.

Nish was also left in a perilous decision, after Denise hit him over the head with a champagne bottle on the fateful night.

Things took a worrying turn for the group in today's episode, following Suki's discovery that Nish had woken up from hospital.

Suki went to the hospital to speak to him, as Denise and Kathy anxiously waited for an update.

Panicked, Kathy and Denise arranged another meeting in The Albert to talk about the latest problem.

As they did this, they failed to realise that Sharon was fleeing Walford with Albie.

Stacey was later shocked to find out from Zack that Sharon had gone away for a while.

Fans shouldn't worry too much though, as Sharon's absence will only be temporary, given that show boss Chris Clenshaw has promised plenty more to come from 'The Six' women.

With Sharon gone, the clan faced a new obstacle as Suki tried to ascertain just how much Nish remembered from Christmas night.

Realising he’s a threat to them, Suki attempted to rally the Panesars around Nish so he feels loved and supported.

Unfortunately, this only left Nish feelings even more suspicious, given that Suki made it clear that she wanted a divorce.

Linda, Kathy, Stacey, Suki and Denise met in The Vic barrel store and decided they needed to move the body from the café – but how will this go?

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
