The annual ceremony took place in London today (September 25) with a star-studded event, and it was the EastEnders crew that went home happy after an impressive haul of six awards.

The emotional arc saw Lola tragically lose her battle with a brain tumour earlier this year, with this particular plot taking home the prize of Best Storyline.

Other wins for EastEnders came in the shape of Best Young Performer and Soap Superstar of the Year, which were won by Isabella Brown and Max Bowden for their roles as Lexi Pearce and Ben Mitchell respectively.

Gary Gillatt, the editor of Inside Soap, commended the show following its success on the night, saying: “The beautifully played story of young mum Lola’s cancer diagnosis, and her final few life-affirming months, captivated Inside Soap readers this year.

“[Winning] out against powerful work from all the other shows, the Best Soap win is well-deserved. It’s been a golden year for EastEnders – a true renaissance.”
