36-year-old man shot outside downtown Edmonton business dies in hospital

The victim of a shooting at an business in the downtown area has died.

Police say a 36-year-old man was shot at a commercial business near 97th Street and 105A Avenue just after 9:20 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers were seen entering Aftermath Autohaus and the business next door, Carproof Auto Repair. The alley beside the building was also taped off while officers searched for evidence.

Blood could be seen on the driveway of Aftermath Autohaus, along with a jacket and a fanny pack.

People were outside the business smoking a cigarette when the shooting happened, police confirmed.

One witness who lives nearby said he saw two ambulances arrive and paramedics frantically performing CPR on the victim before he was transported to hospital.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

"We have very few details at this time. Homicide detectives are working hard," said Edmonton police spokesperson Scott Pattison. "We certainly need the public's assistance on this case."'

"If anybody would have happened to have seen anything from their window, nearby residents walking or driving by in the area, suspicious behaviour by anybody in the back laneways, anybody who knows the deceased we want to hear from you."

Police have not made any arrests in relation to the shooting.
