Education Minister to speak to Moosomin Chamber of Commerce

The May meeting of the Moosomin Chamber of Commerce is coming up Tuesday, May 28.

Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill will join chamber members for the Chamber meeting that day.

McNaughton High School will make a presentation to Chamber members on a fundraising campaign for renovations to the school.

The Southeast Cornerstone School Division had applied for $10 million in provincial funding for a renovation of McNaughton High School under a new provincial program. That application was not accepted for the current budget year, and the school has decided to move forward with a smaller renovation project with community support.

The plan will be presented at the May Chamber meeting.

Tim Hortons Moosomin will make a presentation to Play Fair Daycare at the meeting. Moosomin raised the most of any community in Saskatchewan in the recent Smile Cookie campaign. It is the third year in the row Moosomin has been the top fundraising community in the province in the Smile Cookie campaign. $45,000 was raised for the Play Fair Daycare in the Smile Cookie campaign.

Borderland Co-op will make a presentation to the Moosomin Visual Arts Centre at the meeting. The Visual Arts Centre opened earlier this year and offers

There will be discussion of events coming up in the Moosomin area, including the town-wide garage sale June 1 and events at Moosomin Regional Park for the July long weekend.

Chamber members will also hear from Immigration Consultant Ailyn Silanga, who has set up an immigration consulting business in Moosomin, and is working with employers and new Canadians.

The meeting is set for 11:45 am Tuesday, May 28 at the Canalta meeting room. Lunch is provided.
