  • Elisabeth Moss said the final season of "The Handmaid's Tale" will satisfy fans.

  • "It's definitely for the people that have stuck with us for five seasons," Moss told Business Insider.

  • Season six of "The Handmaid's Tale" will be released in 2025, with production starting this summer.

Elisabeth Moss knows fans of "The Handmaid's Tale" have been anticipating the sixth and final season of the drama series, and she promises it'll be worth the wait.

"I think this whole season is absolutely for the fans," Moss, who stars as June Osborne, told Business Insider's Samantha Rollins in the latest installment of our Role Play interview series. "It's definitely for our audience. It's definitely for the people that have stuck with us for five seasons, and we're kind of making this one for them."

The conclusion of "The Handmaid's Tale" has been a long time coming for audiences.

The Emmy-winning drama series was renewed for a final season in September 2022, two months before the season five finale aired. Production on season six was delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023. In February, Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich told Deadline that the new season would premiere in 2025, with production beginning this summer.

Moss, who revealed that she was pregnant with her first child during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in January, told BI that motherhood will inform her performance on the final season of "The Handmaid's Tale.''

"Oh, I think it'll be lovely," Moss said when asked if it will be strange to return to a show about a reproductive dystopia as a new mom. "I think it'll be a whole new added perspective to life. I'm sure I'll be bringing that to June and to the show."

"I guess time will tell, but of course, I'm sure it's going to affect all parts of my life," Moss continued. "But we're used to having lots of babies and lots of moms and dads on set, and we're a very baby and kid-friendly set. So I don't think it's going to be a huge adjustment for us."

Moss, who described the show as "my other baby," already knows how the series will conclude, but was tight-lipped on giving further details beyond assuring fans that they'll enjoy it.

"I've known for a while how it was going to end, so I don't think I can say anything," she said. "I'm too scared to say the wrong thing accidentally. I'm too nervous."
