Ex Home and Away star calls out insensitive questions over babies

Ex Home and Away star Sophie Dillman has opened up on receiving prying questions over her reproductive choices.

The Ziggy Astoni actress wrote about being constantly asked about whether and when she will have kids with her partner, her Home and Away co-star Patrick O'Connor.

"The number one question I get asked - When will I have a baby? It honestly surprises me how often this question comes up, and from who," Dillman wrote in a piece for Yahoo Lifestyle Australia.

"I believe still, in 2023 this is the question that plagues young women their entire childless existence," she continued.

"I do think (THINK) we are past the belief that women belong in the home; but it is evident that society still sees having a child as the pinnacle in a women's life."

Romance rumours about Dillman and O'Connor being more than just co-stars started circulating in 2019, with the two actors later confirming their relationship.

In her personal essay, Dillman revealed she intends to start a family one day, though she reflected on the repercussions of becoming a parent having a bigger impact on women, affecting not just their bodies, but their professional and financial lives as well.

"The added layer of complexity for me is that my appearance matters in my work," she shared. "I can't play a non-pregnant woman at 8 months pregnant, there is only so much a flowy dress can hide."

The soap star concluded: "I absolutely want to have a family one day, but it isn't really anyone's business except mine."
