Excitement Builds for Swan Hills Swimming Pool Triathlon

As the weather warms up and spring turns to summer, the Swan Hills Swimming Pool is set to host its much-anticipated Triathlon on Sunday, June 2. Held every second year, this thrilling event will see participants of all ages and skill levels take on the challenge, making it a day of fun, fitness, and community spirit.

For those unfamiliar, a triathlon is a multi-sport race consisting of swimming, cycling, and running. Participants compete in all three segments back-to-back, testing their endurance, speed, and versatility. Triathlons can vary in distance, but they always push athletes to their limits, making for an exhilarating experience for both participants and spectators.

This year's triathlon features nine categories to ensure inclusivity and encourage broad participation:

· 4 years old and under

· 5 - 6 years

· 7 - 8 years

· 9 - 12 years

· 13 - 17 years

· 18 years and older - Short Course

· 18 years and older - Long Course

· Tag Team for 12 years and under

· Tag Team for 13 years and older

A total of 82 athletes have registered for this year’s triathlon, promising a lively and competitive atmosphere.

All events will kick off at the Swan Hills Swimming Pool, providing a central location for athletes to transition between the swimming, cycling, and running portions of the event. In previous years, the triathlon has usually wrapped up by about noon, with an awards ceremony in the large gym at Swan Hills School.

The Swan Hills Swimming Pool’s Triathlon isn’t just a competition; it’s a celebration of our community’s active lifestyle and supportive spirit. Spectators are warmly invited to come out and cheer on the athletes as they navigate the challenging course. Your encouragement can make a significant difference, especially for the younger participants who may be experiencing the thrill of a triathlon for the first time.

Whether you’re an athlete, a family member, or a community supporter, the Swan Hills Swimming Pool Triathlon promises to be a memorable event. Come on out on June 2 to witness the dedication, determination, and sheer joy of our local triathletes. Let's make this a day to remember!
