Exclusive: Home and Away star Jacqui Purvis responds to Felicity and Tane shock

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away star Jacqui Purvis has spoken to Digital Spy about Felicity Newman and Tane Parata's doomed wedding.

The couple's marriage ceremony is taking centre stage in some huge episodes on Channel 5 over the next few days, but they won't manage to make it down the aisle.

Upcoming scenes see Felicity and her maid of honour Eden Fowler crash on the road while travelling to the wedding.

This is a consequence of the dangerous biker gang sabotaging the wedding vehicle as an act of revenge against Felicity's brother Cash, who was supposed to be driving.

Speaking to Digital Spy about the news that Felicity and Tane don't get to exchange their vows, Jacqui laughed: "It was disappointing! I really love Flick and Tane. You just want them to be happy, don't you? You want them to have a good life.

"But also, I do love drama too, so I can't complain really!"

Asked whether she wants the pair to tie the knot eventually in a rescheduled ceremony, Jacqui replied: "Yeah! I really do, just because I think Tane and Flick are so good for each other. They bring out the best in each other. They make each other a better person.

"They challenge each other as well, which is really important in a relationship. I think they're really good together, so I would love to see them walk down the aisle."

The big storyline originally aired in Australia for the 2022 season finale in November and 2023 season opener in January.

Explaining how the plot came about, Jacqui told us: "The show's head writer called me in and we discussed what was coming up for Flick in the storylines. She said there'd be a wedding day and a crash when Felicity is on the way to the ceremony.

"I was concentrating more on the wedding part and looking forward to trying some dresses on! I almost forgot that it was going to be a season finale. I don't know if that was just me as a defence mechanism trying not to think about it, because I didn't want the pressure to get to me!

"It didn't sink in until later on, when we were close to filming. That's when I remembered that it was going to be the season finale and it's a big deal.

"The crash itself is so huge and then it became even bigger when I realised how many stunts were going to go into it. I needed a stunt double and thought: 'Oh my God, this is awesome'. I was so chuffed and couldn't believe how lucky I was to get that experience."

The dramatic episodes see Felicity and Eden's car crash into a petrol station.

An unconscious Eden is freed by the paramedics, but it's trickier to get Felicity safely out of the wreckage. When flames start to spread, Tane has to step in with a high-stakes rescue attempt.

Jacqui continued: "It was amazing – one of the best things I've ever been through. One of the stunts I had to do was that I'm in the car when it catches alight. There were real fire bars around me, so it was real fire and I was encased in it.

"I love things like that because I love action – I thought it was the best thing ever. But it was very real, intense and heartbreaking.

"We also had real paramedics on the scene. They were acting in the scenes, but they were real paramedics that were asked to be there, so we could make sure that everything we were doing was true to life.

"It was incredibly safe – there are safety officers everywhere. But there was definitely a moment where it all was happening and I could feel the heat. It was hot!"

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.

Selected classic episodes are available via Prime Video in the UK.
