Extra cheese, please: A new Pizza Hut just opened in Columbia. Check out where it is

It’s pizza time on Forest Drive.

Pizza Hut, one of the nation’s largest pizza chains, opened a new location at 2400 Forest Drive on Nov. 16. That’s near the MUSC Health Columbia hospital, and not far from Benedict College’s football stadium. The building where the Pizza Hut is located formerly was a Church’s Chicken.

Pizza Hut closed its location at 1467 Sumter St. in downtown Columbia back in June to relocate to the Forest Drive site.

The Forest Drive Pizza Hut is offering carryout and delivery and has a drive-thru, which the company referred to in a release as a “Hut Lane.” Customers can place orders ahead of time via the Pizza Hut website or its app, then drive up to the “Hut Lane” to pick up their order.

“We are excited to bring a new and improved Pizza Hut experience to the heart of Columbia,” Stuart Seagroves, executive vice president of Southeast Restaurants Corporation, said in a statement. “With our commitment to quality, convenience, and innovation, we believe this new location will become a go-to destination for pizza lovers in the area.”

Southeast Restaurants Corporation operates more than 30 Pizza Huts across South Carolina.

The new Forest Drive Pizza Hut location is less than a mile east of the main campuses of Benedict College and Allen University. About 19,000 cars per day travel down that section of Forest Drive, per state transportation statistics.
