Family gives soon-to-be-euthanized dog best day ever

Letting go of a family pet is always difficult, and even more so when the beloved friend has to be euthanized due to an illness or injury. But instead of just going through with the procedure, Victor Flores of Austin, Texas, decided to give his dog the best day of its life before saying goodbye forever.

The Daily Mail reports that Flores’ dog, Daisy, had been in the family for 13 years and the dog had to be put down because she lost control of the lower part of her body when she ruptured a disk in her back.

“Daisy was our first dog. I remember getting her for Christmas when I was nine years old. She’s been in our family since. Everybody loved her,” he told the paper.

So Flores pampered Daisy by putting her in a wagon with some blankets to go for a walk and gave Daisy her favourite foods, including bacon and chicken. He also documented her final day with a series of photos, some of which were shared on Twitter.

“Besides the good food and the walks around the neighbourhood, we also made sure she was as comfortable as possible and most of our family stopped by to say goodbye,” Flores told the Daily Mail.

His tweets sharing his dog’s final days went viral and many reached out to him to share their condolences.

“I didn’t think the tweet would go viral,” he told Mashable. “Everybody is sending their condolences so we appreciate that.”
