As previously reported, Chicago Med and Arrowverse alum Donnell will guest-star in the final two episodes of FBI: International Season 3, which come on the heels of what was original cast member Luke Kleintank’s final appearance, on May 7, as Supervisory Special Agent Scott Forrester.

The procedural’s most recent episode gave no indication that Scott was going anywhere, though the promo for this week (found down below) reveals that the team leader has mysteriously and unexpectedly “gone dark.”

What exactly brings on Donnell’s character?

In the next episode, titled “Gift,” when the owner of a prominent cyber security company is murdered in Copenhagen, mass amounts of data are leaked, sending the NSA to the Fly Team for assistance. Donnell plays Brian Lange, the Bureau’s liaison to the NSA.

Donnell’s guest-starring appearances will air Tuesday, May 14, and in the May 21 season finale. Of note, Teri Polo (NCISThe Fosters) is also set to also appear in those same two episodes, in a mystery role.

Kleintank, who had been with FBI: International since Day 1, announced his exit on April 24.

“After much thought and consideration, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave FBI: International,” the actor said in a statement. “This decision is driven by my unwavering commitment to my family, whose love and well-being are paramount in my life.

“I’m profoundly thankful for the extraordinary cast and crew of the show, who have not only been colleagues but also a family away from home,” Scott’s portrayer continued. “Their unwavering dedication and remarkable talents have made every moment on set an unforgettable journey that has enriched my life in countless ways. Lastly, I would also like to extend my thanks to the fans who have supported us through the first three seasons.”

News of Kleintank’s departure came just over two months after his FBI: International co-star Heida Reed exited the series as Special Agent Jamie Kellett. In the Season 3 premiere, Reed’s character announced she was quitting the Fly Team and transferring to the Washington, D.C. field office.

Last month, CBS renewed its entire FBI franchise for additional seasons. FBI: International will be back for Season 4, FBI: Most Wanted will return for Season 6, and the mothership was picked up for another three seasons, ensuring it will be on the air through at least Spring 2027.
