Fire ban lifted in LaSalle and Chatham-Kent, but not Tecumseh

Despite a bit of rain over the weekend, Tecumseh remains under a fire ban.

The ban on open-air fires has been lifted in LaSalle and Chatham-Kent.

Tecumseh Fire Rescue Service say in a tweet that the rain wasn't consistent in all areas of the region.

"Although moderate rainfall occured over the weekend in town, some areas did not receive that," the tweet says.

The Chatham-Kent Fire Department tweeted on Monday morning they were assessing the conditions, and just before 3 p.m., the ban was lifted.

The fire department urged people to use "extreme caution while burning" and remind people the burning need to comply with municipal bylaws.

Meanwhile, LaSalle Fire Services said the recent rainfall has reduced the risks for open-air burning. The fire ban has been lifted in the town as of Monday morning.
