Fire Country: Morena Baccarin Cast as Sheriff, to Star in Potential Spinoff
Onetime Gotham resident Morena Baccarin will soon call Edgewater home.
Baccarin has been tapped to play a sheriff in a Season 2 episode of the CBS hit Fire Country, our sister site Deadline reports. Baccarin will guest-star as Mickey, a sheriff’s deputy with 15 years of experience, who is fiercely protective of her Edgewater, Calif. turf.

With the one-off role comes the option for Baccarin to headline a potential spinoff — Sheriff Country is the title we’ve heard bandied about — if the offshoot winds up being ordered to series.
CBS CEO Cheeks first teased Fire Country offshoots back in June, saying the network would be “doubling down” on a show that “completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe.”
Sheriff Country: Everything We Know
Coming off of best-of-freshman class ratings and a highly engaged audience, “It became very clear that not only was the show special, it really felt like this could be a great example of us building together a franchise from scratch,” Cheeks said. “And so I’m like, ‘You guys, congratulations, you got your [full-season order]. Now let’s start talking about ideas for new extensions.’ They’ve already come up with some great ones.”
Fire Country Season 2 is set to premiere Friday, Feb. 16 at 9/8c once again hammocked between S.W.A.T. (which is entering its final season) and Blue Bloods (which will be launching the first half of its own farewell run).
In addition to her run as Gotham‘s Dr. Lee Thompkins, Baccarin’s TV credits include (but are far from limited to!) The Endgame, Homeland, V and The Flash (voicing Gideon).
Are you excited to see Baccarin heat up Fire Country, and possibly headline an offshoot?
