Fire destroys house in Conche, no one hurt

A house in Conche, on Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula, was completely destroyed by a fire Saturday morning.
No one was home at the time.
Conche volunteer fire department Chief Glenn Symmonds said firefighters received the call around 11 a.m., and were on scene within minutes. By the time they got there, the house was completely engulfed.
"We knew it was going to be a loss, so we were more focused on keeping the fire down and protecting the house next door," Symmonds said.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, Symmonds said, but the RCMP are investigating.
He doesn't believe the homeowners had any insurance coverage.
"That's a big loss — your life's work, gone in a matter of a few hours," Symmonds said.
The displaced family is staying next door with relatives.
