Firefighters respond to early-morning house fire in Cambria. People and pets were inside

The Cambria Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1980 Spencer St. early Sunday.

Engine 5792 arrived about 2:48 a.m. and began an offensive attack to extinguish the fire, according to a news release from the Cambria Community Services District.

Firefighters were able to control and contain the fire to the structure. People and pets inside escaped without injuries. However, the home sustained serious damage.

According to the Services District, the fire was extinguished as a result of the “coordinated efforts” between Cal Fire, Morro Bay Fire, Cambria Community Healthcare District Ambulance and the Red Cross.

The cause of the fire remained unknown.
