Firefighters tackle blaze caused by battery charger
Firefighters have tackled a fire in a garage in Kent which is believed to have been caused by a battery charger.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Broadley Road, Margate, at 16:56 BST on Tuesday.
The blaze is believed to have started accidentally when a lithium-ion battery charger caught alight, the service said.
No injuries were reported.
Three fire engines were deployed and firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames and a smoke curtain to prevent the smoke from travelling into the main property.
The fire service urged the public to take precautionary steps when purchasing lithium-ion batteries.
These include buying from a reputable retailer, only charging during the day when you are at home and avoiding storing, using or charging them at very high or low temperatures.
