The first hot pot restaurant on the Mississippi Coast is now open. How does it work?

Popular Taiwanese restaurant chain Tasty Pot has opened their first Mississippi location in D’Iberville.

Tasty Pot, at 3179 Mallett Rd. near the Grand Theater and the Promenade, is serving up its famed soups and bubble teas from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. this week, with a grand opening set for Sept. 17.

The restaurant is also set to open for lunch then.

According to their website, Tasty Pot is an “Authentic Taiwanese individual hotpot chain that seeks to provide healthy dining in a comfortable, modern setting.”

The soups, or “hotpots,” are customizable with a four-step process guiding you through your perfect hotpot.

You start with your base pot, consider it the foundation of your meal. This can be seafood lobster, Japanese miso, kimchi dumpling or one of several other options.

You then choose a spice level, ranging from no kick to “flaming spicy.” Steps three and four are vegetable and protein add-ons with nearly 60 options to choose from.

Other menu items include appetizers, “sizzling” plates, teas, lattes and other drink options.

The doors open at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday and the grand opening will feature a ribbon cutting and lion dance from the White Tiger Lion Dance Team at 3:30 p.m. The restaurant will remain open until 10 p.m.
