This Florida beach town was named one of the best in the U.S. by Condé Nast Traveler

A Florida beach town was just named one of the best in the eastern United States by Condé Nast Traveler.

Not that it’s on Florida’s east coast. The beach town in question is on the west side of the state: Siesta Key, a barrier island off Sarasota in the Gulf of Mexico.

In its “10 Best Beach Towns on the East Coast” list, Condé Nast Traveler highlighted the best of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

About Siesta Key, the website wrote:

“We want to laud Siesta Key in particular for its fine sand, which comes from the Appalachian Mountains and is made up almost entirely of cool and reflective quartz, its waterfront dining and drinking, and its excellence for water sports like parasailing. The three beaches to visit on Siesta Key are Siesta Beach, Crescent Beach, and Turtle Beach.”

Siesta Key has long been a favorite of travel writers. Earlier this year, it was chosen as one of the best beaches in the country by Tripadvisor in its 2023 Travelers’ Choice Awards, along with Sombrero Beach in Marathon in the Florida Keys; Henderson Beach State Park in Destin; St. Augustine Beach; St. Pete Beach; Panama City Beach; Pensacola Beach; and Clearwater Beach.

Earlier this year, the beachfront Anna Maria Island off Bradenton on Florida’s west coast was named one of the best small towns in the country by Family Destinations Guide.

Is this pristine Florida beach the best in the country? Miami’s “Dr. Beach” says it is
