Folk on the Rocks seeks 50 more volunteers before Friday

Organizers behind Yellowknife's Folk on the Rocks music festival are looking for at least 50 more volunteers before the 35th annual event begins this weekend.

It takes hundreds of volunteers to put on the summer concerts.

"Seven hours gets you a free day pass and 13 hours gets you the full weekend pass," says Maud Robinson Spence, the festival's volunteer co-ordinator.

"And we are having a secret volunteer party for volunteer appreciation," she says, adding that more information will be released Friday. "It's just sort of to build up the hype."

Spence says they need more help for the beer garden and security, the two largest volunteer crews.

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the festival office or visit the website to register online.

The festival gets underway with four Warm the Rocks events on Friday, including a free concert at Somba K'e Park from noon to 11 p.m.
