These Fort Worth-area schools had interesting starts. Will they continue on the same path?

Which Fort Worth-area schools are making noise in their respective classes as week four of Texas high school football looms?

Some teams have exceeded expectations with a strong start, while others have taken a step back. Are the early season wins and losses a stroke of luck or a sign that these teams will continue on the same trajectory?

Here are the most eye-catching Fort Worth-area performances through the first few weeks of Texas football.

Crowley Eagles

It was evident from the beginning Crowley would be an improved team under the leadership of newly hired head coach Carlos Lynn, who has experience making deep playoff runs in Class 6A.

However, this type of turnaround is putting District 3-6A on notice. The Eagles lost all three of their non district games last season. Now, the Eagles are undefeated heading into a week four matchup with Weatherford, having secured three dominant victories.

The Eagles didn’t just win. They dismantled their opponents, winning each game by 26 or more. They’ve scored a whopping 83 more points than their opponents.

Of course, performance in district play will be more important. The strong start raises a question: how far can Lynn and the Eagles fly?

Arlington Martin

What’s going on with Arlington Martin? This time last year, they had two non district wins ahead of a 10-2 season.

Under newly promoted head coach Chad Rives, the Warriors have yet to win a game. In the first two contests, Martin only scored one touchdown. The only other point producing play was a safety, which was the Warriors’ lone score in the Cedar Hill game.

In their third game, the Warriors lost to Allen 51-31. Martin has one district game remaining against Temple, a school they soundly defeated 53-18 last season. Will the Warriors get back on track?

Fort Worth All Saints

Fort Worth All Saints finished with a 7-6 record in 2022. The last time they finished above .500 was 2017, when they won 11 games, making a deep playoff run.

Now, it appears the Saints are ready to compete at the top, and they have an undefeated record to prove it. Head coach Aaron Beck and Co. have a talented offensive attack led by quarterback Kelden Ryan, a Virginia Tech commit, and running back Reid Watkins.

How far will the Saints climb? Time will tell. Fort Worth All Saints has a matchup with Prestonwood Christian on Friday.

Argyle Eagles

Argyle had a stellar season in 2022, winning 14 games and falling to South Oak Cliff in the Class 5A-D2 semifinal. This season, however, the Eagles are struggling to replace defensive talent.

Argyle went undefeated in non district play a season ago. Now, they have a losing record after dropping the first two games. Their opponents have scored 92 total points while the Eagles have scored 28.

Argyle and Grapevine faced off in week three, but the game was canceled swiftly canceled with lightning in the area. This week, the Eagles play an up and coming Fort Worth North Side team.

Will Argyle return to its winning ways?
