Fort Worth Wyatt stuns Dallas Lincoln with game-winning touchdown in final moments

The Fort Worth O.D. Wyatt Chaparrals returned 18 starters, and with their experience they hope to have their third straight season with seven or more wins. They started their season with a step in the right direction.

In the final seconds of the game, Wyatt came out on top, defeating Dallas Lincoln 41-38 in spectacular fashion at Herman Clark Stadium on Friday.

The first quarter began with quarterback Kaid Barrett scoring the first touchdown of the season for the Chaparrals.

With 1:08 left in the first quarter, Wyatt’s Jorvorski Lane scored a 20-yard rushing touchdown which brought the score to 14-0.

Next, it was senior Jeramiah Boone’s turn. With 9:28 left in the second quarter, he rushed for a 60-yard touchdown, giving the Chaparrals a 20-0 lead.

Wyatt has 25 seniors that have played varsity for all four years of high school. Head coach Zach Criss said it brings cohesiveness to the team.

As a team, the touchdowns just kept coming for Wyatt. Damario Goss was the next Chaparrals to make it into the end zone. Lane Jorvoski, Jr. made the extra point, and with 7:56 left in the second quarter, the score was 27-0.

The Chaparrals’ lead wasn’t safe.

The Tigers didn’t let the score intimidate them; they answered it with a touchdown from quarterback Byron Eaton to get points on the board. The score was 27-7 with 7:40 left in the second quarter.

The Tigers scored their second touchdown of the night followed by a field goal to bring the score to 27-16 at the half.

Dallas Lincoln kicked off the second half and then scored two back-to-back touchdowns, and with 5:52 remaining in the third quarter the score was 31-27. The Tigers had their first lead of the night.

The fourth quarter was like a game of tug of war. The first score of the fourth quarter came when Chaparrals’ Jeramiah Boone caught the ball in the end zone, regaining the lead.

The Tigers fought back with a rushing touchdown, bringing the score 38-34.

With no time left on the clock, senior Dartagnan Crawford scored the game-winning touchdown for the Chapparals, 41-38.
