Fourth of July weather in Myrtle Beach area gonna make you sweat. How hot will it get?

If your July 4, 2024, plans include being outside, you may want to pack an extra shirt, or maybe two, as the weather that day can be summed up in one word: Muggy.

Those in the Myrtle Beach area can expect more heat and humidity as we head into the holiday weekend. Temps will start to heat up on Thursday, July 4, and are expected to be close to 90 by Friday, according to Bob Bright, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, North Carolina. It will be hot and humid, and there is the potential for additional heat advisories throughout the weekend, Bright said.

The NWS is forecasting the heat index to be close to 105 degrees inland, Bright said.

Bright said the chances of rain for the weekend are low, but there could be a few showers along the coast.

If there is any good news, the temperatures will be a little cooler on the beaches, Bright said. But if you’re inland, you can expect to be drenched from sweat even without taking a dip in the Atlantic Ocean.

“(It’s going to be) a lot more muggy and summer like,” Bright said.
