France to send Ukraine decommissioned military equipment
France will transfer decommissioned military equipment to Ukraine instead of scrapping it, French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced on March 29.
According to Lecornu, France has much equipment that is still operational, which will be decommissioned in the future. He suggested it would be better to provide this equipment to Ukraine rather than simply “throwing it away.”

During a visit to France’s Var Department, the minister also said the government is exploring a wide range of options on how best to maximize military aid to Ukraine.

“There are those who think we are giving too much, and those who think we are not giving enough,” French newspaper Var-Martic quotes Lecornu.
“We clearly see that we are speaking somewhat superficially, and sometimes even politicized, as the European [parliamentary] electoral campaign has begun.”

At the same time, he stated that Paris would never cross a “red line” of undermining France’s national defense.
“As for the weapons that we managed to withdraw from our military, such as the Caesar [self-propelled artillery] guns, they, of course, disrupted the training schedules of our artillerymen, particularly in Canjuers, but aside from this, they never undermined our systematic artillery capabilities," Lecornu explained.
