Friendly Seal Cuddles With Diver Off Northumberland Coast

A diver made a new friend while hanging out beneath the waves off the coast of the Farne Islands, an archipelago in the North Sea, on June 30.

Ben Burville, a scuba diver who works as a doctor in the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland, by day, has built up a rapport with seals in the area after nearly 20 years diving among them.

He tweeted footage of the sweet interaction with a wild grey seal, who he said he had only encountered for the first time the previous week.

“I never met this wild grey seal before last week,” Burville tweeted. “Sometimes during a dive we just stop and take a few moments.” Credit: Ben Burville via Storyful
