Funeral held for country music producer Bill Langstroth
The funeral for longtime country music producer Bill Langstroth was held Sunday in Sackville, N.B.
An hour before the funeral began, cars lined up in front of St. Paul’s Anglican Church. People slowly filed into the church, some carrying musical instruments.
Langstroth was 81. He died Wednesday afternoon in a Moncton hospital, said his friend Ron MacNutt. Langstroth just moved to Sackville, New Brunswick in December, he said.
Langstroth was best known for his work on the CBC program Singalong Jubilee.
He married Nova Scotian singer Anne Murray in 1975. They had two children together before divorcing decades later. Murray was also at the funeral Sunday, hugging mourners filing into the church.
In 2011, Langstroth was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of fame.
He later remarried. Langstroth leaves behind his wife, Fran.
