Gem and Mineral Show returns April 20

Visitors will be digging the annual Gem and Mineral Show at the Haileybury campus of Northern College on Saturday, April 20.

This is the 39th popular rock show and promises to attract collectors from across the province.

Doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., admission is $3.

There will be plenty of rock specimens available for consideration amongst the displays. There will also be jewellery samples and other crafted items featuring many varieties of gems and polished stones.

Over 800 people attended the Gem and Mineral Show from across Ontario in 2023 and this year, with the addition of some new vendors, the interest is rising.

The event is being organized by Karisma Charlton, Don Hillier and Al Kon.

In a telephone interview, Charlton said that the organizers were "very busy" at last year's event, and with the promise of some new vendors this year, "I have heard a lot of people are really excited. It might bring something a little different."

Not only will there be many displays of rock specimens and some assembled pieces, there will also be lots for the kids to do, she said.

Refreshments will also be available.
