Gen V boss says S2 storyline will honour late starPrime Video

Gen V developer Eric Kripke has shared that the show will pay tribute to late actor Chance Perdomo with a storyline in its second season.

The star, who played Andre Anderson in the Prime Video series, passed away at the age of 27 in March after being involved in a motorcycle crash, with the producers subsequently revealing that his character would not be recast.

In an interview with TVLine at the Gotham TV Awards, Kripke revealed that the upcoming second season of The Boys spin-off will explain that Perdormo's character has passed away as part of the storyline, with the developer saying they couldn't "replace" him.

"First, it's just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family," he said. "We're not trying to replace him because we can't. We're playing the character's death on the show. So it's very heavy and it's really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we're just trying to honour Chance as best we can."

Kripke, who has also written and directed episodes of The Boys, went on to preview the second season of Gen V from a wider standpoint.

"It's really intense," he teased. "It's fun to sort of find your legs in the second season of a show and really start digging into the story and the characters."

Following Perdormo’s tragic passing, producers and cast members of Gen V shared tributes to the star, with a spokesperson writing: "As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory.

"We won't be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honour Chance and his legacy this season."

"Our hearts are with Chance's loved ones as we grieve this shocking loss," said the cast. "We will remember the special moments we had together, his infectious smile that could light up any room, his warm hugs and the authenticity he carried with him always. Rest in peace dear friend, you will be deeply missed. Love, The Gen V Cast."

The Boys seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video, along with spin-off Gen V. The Boys season 4 debuts on June 13.
