Georgia man accused of murdering woman at North Myrtle Beach hotel, stashing body in car

A Georgia man was arrested for allegedly murdering a woman while the pair were at a North Myrtle Beach resort in September, according to a press release.

North Myrtle Beach Police detectives traveled to Georgia to arrest Bornold Alastair Eberhart, 42. He was arrested on March 8 by the Dekalb County SWAT Team in Georgia and was extradited to Horry County by the Horry County Sheriff’s Department, according to the press release from North Myrtle Beach.

He is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail.

On Sept. 22, 2023, Kristin Laymon, of Duluth, Ga., came to a resort in North Myrtle Beach with Eberhart and was reported missing when she was not heard from, the press release stated.

It is believed Eberhart and Laymon got into an argument early in the morning on Sept. 23. Laymon was last seen alive entering an elevator at 2:12 a.m. It’s believed Eberhart killed her on Sept. 23, the release said.

Eberhart returned to Dekalb County, Ga., with Laymon’s body in the trunk of vehicle on Sept. 24, according to the police report.

Detectives got an arrest warrant on March 3 and arrested Eberhart on March 8. On March 9, police found what the believe to be Laymon’s body outside of Atlanta in the 1800 block of Whitehall Forest Court.

Police are awaiting confirmation of Laymon’s identity from the Medical Examiner.

North Myrtle Beach will have a press conference about the murder on Thursday at the North Myrtle Beach Municipal Court, 1015 2nd Ave S.
