Good Morning Britain is set to shake up its presenters as Susanna Reid takes time off from the show.

Announcing her temporary departure on Wednesday's (October 18) edition of the early morning show, Reid revealed that she would be away for a short while to spend the half-term holidays with her family.

She reassured viewers that it wasn't a permanent exit and told co-hosts Richard Madeley and Lorraine Kelly that she would return soon. "I am back in two weeks," Reid explained.

"We will miss you! Have a great time, Susanna," Kelly replied, while Madeley added: "Have a lovely time off!"

The journalist also shared the news on her Instagram account, adding that she was looking forward to having some time off with her children.

"HAVING A BREAK! Looking forward to a bit of time with the kids. Back after half-term," she wrote. Reid shares three sons with her ex-partner Dominic Cotton: Sam, 21, Finn, 19 and Jack, 18.

ITV is yet to confirm who will be stepping in for Reid on the breakfast show. However, the broadcaster has plenty of presenters to choose from, with Ben Shephard, Kate Garraway, Ed Balls and Martin Lewis all on the GMB roster.

Reid's decision to take time off to spend with family comes days after co-anchor Madeley shared some happy news of his own, revealing he had recently become a grandfather for the fifth time.

Announcing the news on Monday's show, Madeley explained that his son Jack and daughter-in-law Issy had welcomed their second child together, a baby girl named Wren.

"Little Wren is my fifth grandchild... She's only about five days old. She's a sweetie," Madeley told Reid as an image of himself holding Wren flashed up on the screen.

Good Morning Britain airs on ITV1.
