GoFundMe started for Spring Township family who ‘lost everything’ in fire

Multiple fire companies work at the scene of a building fire in the 100 block of Confer Drive in Spring Township on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2023.

Hours after a devastating house fire in Spring Township, a GoFundMe was set up for the Spring Township family of seven affected.

Fire crews responded to a call at about 10 a.m. in the 100 block of Confer Drive on Wednesday morning, after smoke was seen from a window.

The home sustained major damage, with the family of seven losing everything inside, according to a Facebook post from Spring Township police. No one was injured in the fire but police said that a family pet died in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Alpha, Pleasant Gap, Undine, Logan and Walker Township fire companies were among those who responded to the scene.

A GoFundMe campaign launched by Rachel Glenny said the five children were “completely devastated” and in need of clothing donations following the fire. As of 5 p.m. on Wednesday, the GoFundMe had $400 of its $10,000 goal.

“My sister and her family lost everything of theirs in a house fire today 9.13.2023, even their beloved family dog Flora,” Glenny wrote on the GoFundMe page, which lists the clothing sizes needed.

The Centre County Christian Academy will also be collecting donations for the family.
