Good Friday Agreement: Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern hail Anglo-Irish teamwork ahead of 25th anniversary

Sir Tony Blair and Bertie Ahern have praised the spirit of Anglo-Irish teamwork that helped land the Good Friday Agreement 25 years ago.

The peace deal was signed on 10 April 1998 to establish a powersharing settlement that largely ended the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

The former UK prime minister and the former Irish prime minister (taoiseach) have reflected on the negotiation process that took place.

“Bertie Ahern was an absolute rock throughout it,” said Sir Tony of the former Fianna Fail leader.
