A graphic designer created uniform and logo concepts if Coyotes move to Kansas City

A day after voters in Tempe, Arizona, rejected plans for a Phoenix Coyotes arena, fans in Kansas City made it clear last week they’d love to see the NHL team play at the T-Mobile Center.

The Coyotes aren’t poised to move out of the desert just yet.

The mayor of Mesa, Arizona, told Arizona Sports that his city could have land available for a Coyotes arena.

Even if Mesa doesn’t work out, Larry Brooks of the New York Post said the NHL won’t be in a hurry to have the Coyotes move to another city.

“The league will not leap to relocate the franchise when doing so might eliminate a potential expansion destination that could produce an entry fee of between $750 million and $1 billion that would be shared exclusively among the owners,” Brooks wrote.

But if the Coyotes were to move to Kansas City, one fan has come up with a uniform concept for the team.

Josh Chavis, a graphic designer, shared these uniform and logo ideas for a Kansas City Coyotes NHL team.

“I saw the news that Tempe had voted down a new arena and decided to play with a few designs for fun,” Chavis wrote in a Twitter message. “I used to live in Phoenix and did some design and advertising work several years back for the Coyotes. I love the current Kachina logo, but the cubism and Southwestern design influences wouldn’t fit so well here in KC in my opinion.

“Ideally, we’d rename the team, but I didn’t have the spare time for a name idea AND a design, so I revised the Coyotes. It got a lot of love, and some hate from purists and (curiously) people from Boston. That’s okay.”
