The Great British Bake Off announces eliminated baker for Botanical Week

The Great British Bake Off 2023 has just seen the first-ever Botanical Week in the tent, and another baker has waved goodbye.
The remaining seven bakers were tested across three plant-themed challenges in tonight's (October 31) episode, and despite the high standard of floral bakes, Dana was eliminated.
The Signature challenge saw the bakers celebrate all things spice by making 12 exquisitely fragrant spiced buns. In true Bake Off fashion, innuendos were aplenty, with co-host Alison Hammond telling the bakers that judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood "wanna see your buns".
"Paul already checked mine out this morning," quipped Alison's co-host Noel Fielding in response. "He was disappointed."

When facing the judges, Saku was praised for the "spot-on" flavour combination of her Signature bake. Paul and Prue felt Tasha's Yuletide spiced buns were "beautifully balanced", and Christy impressed with her maple, pecan and cinnamon buns.
The Technical challenge followed, and the bakers were tasked with making a lemon and thyme drizzle cake. Prue expected the cake to be soaked with lemon and thyme syrup and decorated with crystallised lemon peel.
As is standard for the Technical, there was a bit of drama this week. Saku and Noel had a keepy-uppy challenge with lemons, which ended in Noel breaking a bowl when he threw a lemon across the tent.
Sadly, Tasha came in last place in the Technical after having trouble with her cake sticking to the tin. Meanwhile, Christy continued her Botanical success when she placed first. "I'm over the moon," she said after coming out on top.
In tonight's Showstopper challenge, the bakers impressed the judges with their imaginative floral desserts.

Christy had a particularly emotional Showstopper, where she had to take a breather after her dessert's dome cracked when she got it out of the mould. With just an hour to go, she managed to get it remade.
During judging, Prue branded Tasha's ambitious ten-layered elderflower and hibiscus floral dessert a "triumph". But despite Tasha's impressive redemption, the Star Baker this week was Josh, who blew the judges away with his rhubarb, raspberry and hibiscus Showstopper.
Finally, it was time to announce the baker leaving the competition: Dana. "I feel like I've smashed it," she said on making it to week six. "I'm just kinda thinking of all the fun that I've had throughout the whole six weeks, and that's what I'm going to be remembering."
